In the year 1870, RWTH Aachen University hosted its very first academic class, which had a total of 201 participants including students, listeners, and guest students. RWTH Aachen University is a public institution of higher education located in Aachen, and it holds the distinction of being the most populous technical university in the German-speaking world. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, civil engineering, surveying, mechanical engineering, and metallurgy were the first nine departments to be established at RWTH Aachen University when it first opened its doors.

These houses have monthly rents that range anywhere from €400 to €650, depending on the size of the room. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to find a place to stay in one of the university guest houses; consequently, you should begin your search for a new place to stay at least two to three months before you plan to arrive in Aachen.

There are a number of student advising services available, each of which focuses on a different aspect of the process of delivering information to students, such as housing. For instance, the AStA Student’s Committee, the AuslanderInnen Vertretung (AV), the International Office Housing Advice Service, the International Student Organization (INCAS), and the Association of Indian Students in Aachen are all examples of student organizations in Aachen (AISA). These student organizations distribute brochures that contain a significant amount of information as well as addresses that are beneficial for researchers and students from Germany as well as those from other countries.

The alumni list of RWTH Aachen University includes some of the most well-known people in the world. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie was the third president of Indonesia, Necmettin Erbakan was the former prime minister of Turkey, and Peter Debye was awarded the Nobel Prize. Admissions

RWTH Aachen University, also known simply as RWTH, is a public research university in Aachen, Germany. It is renowned for providing an education in the Natural Sciences and Engineering that is on par with the best universities in the world. IDEA League is a strategic alliance of five leading universities of technology in Europe, and this institution was one of the original members. In addition to this, RWTH is a member of the Top Industrial Managers for Europe (T.I.M.E) network, as well as TU9 and the German Research Foundation (DFG). The university strives to cultivate a one-of-a-kind educational and research environment that welcomes the convergence of knowledge, methods, and insights from all of the major subfields of academic study. It had seven Collaborative Research Centers and Transregios as of 2019, and it had participated in 15 local and transregional collaborative research areas up until this point. Over 150 different classes are available to students at RWTH, with only 14 of them being private. There are 114 master’s degrees offered in addition to 69 bachelor’s degrees. Out of these, there are 139 courses that are offered in German medium, 30 courses that are offered in English medium, and 13 courses that are offered in both German and English. There is no bachelor’s degree program available in English medium through RWTH. Students from other countries have the option of enrolling in German classes if they feel they are proficient enough in the language. If this is not the case, international students have access to a restricted number of master’s programs that are taught in English.

When it comes to undergraduate programs, the requirements for RWTH change depending on the course and the major. It will accept a degree with 10+3 years of education, which means that the student must have either completed Grade 12 and earned a one- or two-year diploma in the relevant subject, or they must have completed Grade 10 and earned a three-year diploma. After completing the 12th grade, students also have the option to enroll in Studienkolleg classes. In addition to this, the university demanded that applicants possess a valid TestAS certificate.

Rankings

One of the most prestigious educational institutions of its kind in Germany, RWTH Aachen University is a public research institution that can be found in the city of Aachen. Across all 144 of its academic offerings, the university consistently attracts some of the most students worldwide.

When it comes to RWTH Aachen University’s ranking, the university has been ranked in a range that falls between 201 and 300 by the ARWU Shanghai Ranking for five years in a row, from 2016-2020. The ARWU Shanghai ranking does not take into account an institution’s reputation among academics or employers. Instead, it prefers to rank universities based on the amount of academic research they produce and the number of Nobel Prizes won by their staff. These factors are included as part of their ranking methodology. 

The university is currently ranked number 145 on the QS World University Ranking and number 107 on the Times Higher Education list of best universities in the world for 2021. While QS places the most weight on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each, Times Higher Education (THE) gives equal importance to Teaching, Research, and Citations at 30% each. This is in contrast to QS, which places the most weight on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each.

As part of their ranking methodology, US News & World Report ranks RWTH Aachen University at number 184 for the year 2021. This ranking is based on a variety of ranking parameters, including Global Research Reputation, Regional Research Reputation, and Number of Publications Cited, each of which accounts for 12.5% of the overall ranking.
