Adelphi University was founded in 1896 and has campuses in Manhattan, Suffolk County, and the Hudson Valley. It is one of the oldest colleges on suburban Long Island. Students can choose from a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and joint degree programs at the university’s eight schools and colleges. The courses cover a wide range of topics, from business and psychology to anthropology, biology, communication, economics, nutrition, and computer science.

Accrediting bodies include the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the New York State Education Department, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Its charter came from the State University of New York, so you know it’s real. Colleges of Distinction praised the university’s professional graduate degree program and its excellent work in four areas: teaching, community, outcomes, and engagements. Adelphi’s innovative work in higher education was also recognized by the National Research Center on College and University Admissions (NRCCUA). In 2018, they were given the Eduventures Innovation Award.

Students can use the modern facilities at the university, which include a wide range of services and amenities. On campus, you can find a gym, a library, a bookstore, and parking lots. You can also find health clinics. On its many courts and field, you can play baseball, tennis, racquetball, squash, and other sports. There are three cafeterias and a few food trucks on campus, among other places to eat. Adelphi University’s 1,300 students can live in one of seven clean and safe dorms.

Frances Perkins, who used to be the Secretary of Labor for the United States, and Paul Moravec, who won the Pulitzer Prize for music, both taught at Adelphi University. Some companies that have hired college graduates are IBM Global Business Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, GEICO, and Marks Paneth. Students from Adelphi University have been accepted to prestigious graduate programs at schools like Columbia, Harvard, and Yale.

Alumni of the university have done great things in their fields. Robert B. Willumstad, the former Chairman and CEO of American International Group (AIG), and Nicholas Cummings are just two of the many famous people who went through the program (former President of the American Psychological Association).

Admissions

Ninety-four percent of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that higher education increased their intellectual capacity and employment opportunities.

Forty-seven percent of the class was either working or attending college six months after graduating. Only 3% of these folks were students or retirees; the rest 97% all held down jobs. In 2020, healthcare accounted for 27.6% of all jobs, followed by education (25%), and then counseling and social services (27.6%).
